Your relationship with your friends and family can become a deterrent to your success. You sometimes feel you owe your parents for the good deeds and upbringing. You sometimes think that what is happening to your friends should happen to you as well. You then think that they’re opinions on what you do in life matters.
Maybe it’s time to switch your mindset. Shutdown their voice inside you. This is most of the time difficult for a lot of people, especially those who do not have the confidence to stand alone.
I was in the accounting profession for ten years for the wrong reasons. For 10 years I was swayed by peers, friends and former colleagues different beliefs about the profession. I thought it was something for me. After an argument with my boss in Dubai, that’s when I realize that I just couldn’t do it anymore. I can’t live another 20 years in the profession. This became one of the most important decisions in my life.
This decision allowed me to change my environment and think independently for myself. This allowed me to seek alot of ideas. Experiment. Build. Create. Reflect on failures. Focus on thinking abundantly and realistically.
If you feel anxious on your decision making, maybe find time to evaluate your environment.
- Does the people around you help or they create more problems?
- Can you find the clarity to think at home or at the office?
Answer the questions truthfully be unemotional. This might be the missing piece to your success and development.
