This quote is from the book the Daily Stoic by Ryan Holiday & Stephen Hansselman. But originally is part of Marcus Aurelius’ legacy to the world.
Reflecting on the quote brings clarity to the fact that it is very hard to comprehend how we as a species became so complex in the way we walk through life. Simplicity is so hard to achieve.
Schools have made us complex in following sets of rules that hindered us from learning all about ourselves.
Your parents teaches you stuff that they learned from a time very different from our modern era.
It takes courage to decide how to change our ways or trim down our distorted mind from our childhood and on that end I’m going to be honest with you, this topic will not appeal to most or even you will find this argument absurd that simplicity is very hard to achieve.
It took me a while to grasp the value of simplicity in life. And it’s quite complex. I’m actually reflecting on how I can help others simplify their lives as it brought me tremendous freedom and abundance. This blog is one of them.
